Rate:Up to £63,000 pa

Resourcing Group Futures are currently recruiting for a Head of Centre to lead strategic and operational direction and delivery of the National FGM Centre.

The successful candidate will be working for a respected national charity who works tirelessly to transform the lives of some of the UK's most vulnerable children. They provide high quality and innovative services and delivery child focus programmes which they are constantly striving to develop and improve.

The National FGM Centre is funded through the Department of Education's Children's Social Care Innovation Programme and is run jointly by our client and the Local Government Association. The centre aims to inform and improve police and practice at local and national levels by identifying, generating and sharing high quality evidence on what works to prevent and tackle female genital mutilation and other harmful traditional practices such as breast ironing/flattening and practices linked to belief and religion.

As the Head of the National FGM Centre you will be responsible for developing it into a recognised and respected centre of expertise, providing sector leadership and promoting whole system change in the response to harmful traditional practices across a range of professional groups, with a particular focus on social care and education. The Head will also be responsible for ensuring the Centre's long-term financial sustainability through growth, additional funding opportunities or the development of best practice.

The successful candidate will hold responsibility for expanding the current remit and expertise of the Centre to encompass a wider range of harmful practices, developing a strong nation profile for the centre and for developing the Centre's model to extend reach into new geographical and delivery areas.

You will also lead and manage the interface and relationships with relevant government departments and will ensure the Centre develops and effectively manages relationships with other key stakeholders and partners. You will engage with key politicians and Civil Servants on issues of policy and legislation relevant to the Centre's work and will represent the centre at a range of conferences.

The successful candidate will need to have senior and strategic managerial experience within a VAWG service and will ideally have a working knowledge of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) services.

They are ideally looking for someone who has knowledge of current legislation, police and practice developments affecting children, young people and families across England and Wales, in particular in relation to FGM and other harmful traditional practices. A background of working with BAME communities, in particular African and Middle Eastern communities is essential.
