Based: West Yorkshire
Rate: £10 - 12.50ph dependent on experience
Length: 3 months plus
Hours: 37.5 hours
Our client, a respected national children's Charity, are recruiting for a West Yorkshire based Support Worker to work supporting Asylum Seekers whilst they are awaiting asylum decisions.
The successful candidate will be working with young asylum seekers to support them whilst their wait for decisions on asylum applications and with appeals following unsuccessful claims.
You will be supporting young people aged between 11 - 21 through one to one work and will be supporting them with a range of practical and emotional needs (including housing, benefits, access to mental health and counseling services, legal advice, support accessing statutory services, education and language support).
You will be working closely with legal professionals and liaising with the home office to support clients through the asylum process.
They are looking for someone who has experience of supporting with and advocating on behalf of vulnerable clients and ideally someone with knowledge of immigration processes.
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people - supported housing, youth work etc
- Knowledge on immigration and/ or experience of working with asylum seekers, refugees and unaccompanied minors
- They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and displays a can do attitude
