Role: Family Support Worker (Refugee and Asylum Seekers)
Rate: £10 - 12.50ph dependent on experience
Length: 3 months plus
Hours: 37.5 hours
Our client, a respected national children's Charity, are recruiting for a Lancashire based Family Support Worker to work with refugee and asylum seekers through 121 sessions in homes and the community, drop in sessions and various groups (including children's activity sessions, women's groups and targeted support groups).
The successful candidate will be working with families to support them with a range of needs and issues including housing, benefits, income management, accessing education, employment and training, support accessing statutory services, language support, child protection, community and social integration, accessing additional services and support (including immigration, counselling, legal, domestic violence etc).
You will be providing support in drop in sessions, with on going 121 and family support sessions and through facilitating a range of groups.
They are looking for someone who has experience of supporting with and advocating on behalf of vulnerable clients and ideally who has previous experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers and/or BME communities.
- Experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers and / or BME clients and of supporting them with both their practical and emotional needs (housing, finance, immigration, education etc)
- Experience of 121 and Group work
- They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and displays a can do attitude
