Role: Project Worker (Young People and Families)

Based: London

Rate: £12 - 14ph dependent on experience

Length: 9 months

Hours: 18.5 hours

Start: Immediate

Our client, a national Children's Charity, specialise in working with children who have run away from home and supporting them and their family and/or carers.

The role works closely with British Transport Police and you will be based out of Euston train station and the local Police Station and will support children, young people, families and carers across the London Borough in their own homes and in the community. You will be supporting children through 121 support work and whole family support sessions.

You will be support children with a range of issues and/or needs including mental health, substance misuse, child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation/ county lines, trafficking, abuse and neglect, bullying, relationship issues, loneliness and family breakdowns

The successful candidate will be providing intensive 121 support, advocacy and guidance to young people and their families. You will be working to ensure the child's voice is heard, that they are kept safe and will be working to reduce the push and pull factors linked to them running away from home.

You will be facilitating multi-agency working and will signpost clients to additional specialist services as and when required. This will include working closely with the Police, Social Services, CAMHS, specialist charities (including domestic and sexual violence, gang and county lines, substance misuse and CSE related), criminal justice and immigration related services.

You will be responsible for raising awareness of the service and issues and dangers relating to run away children.


  • Previous experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families - this can include supported housing, social care/ work, therapeutic support and/ or youth work
  • Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience or an understanding of issues around run away children, trafficking & exploitation and young people's mental health needs
  • The worker will be required to have extensive experience in safeguarding
