Role: Project Worker (Missing from Home)
Based: Greater Manchester
Rate: £11 - 13ph dependent on experience
Length: 3 months plus
Hours: 25 hours - day worked will be Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Start: Immediate

Our client, a respected national children's Charity, are recruiting for a Project Worker to work on their Greater Manchester based Missing for Home service.

The successful candidate will be conducting return to home interviews with children and young people who are returning home following a missing episode.

Role Synopsis

  • Carrying out Return Home assessments, identifying risks and making referrals accordingly
  • Identifying the child's (and in some cases the wider family/ carers') needs and signposting/ referring them to additional services, professionals and organisations
  • Working with children and young people with a range of needs/ issues including family breakdown, substance misuse, mental health, domestic violence, sexual abuse, neglect, peer pressure, bullying and those experiencing/ at risk of CSE.
  • Working in a prompt and time sensitive maner - It is important that the child is offered support as early as possible in order to protect them from harm and prevent the risks from escalating further
  • Working with the child or young person in a time sensitive manner to establish what has caused them to run away, what experiences and individuals they encountered whilst away and what could help resolve the issues that the child identifies
  • Working creatively and flexibly in order to quickly build rapport and trust with the clients in order to engage them with the service, fully understand their reasons for running away and the risks associated

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with vulnerable young people - this can include supported housing, social care/ work, therapeutic support and/ or youth work
  • They are looking for someone who is persistent and resilient and who is able to work flexibly in order to best engage the young person
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Children
